The Green Beans Environmental Club is a new club as of this 2024 Spring Semester which is made up of a group of students who have come together to install a community garden on campus and implement a recycling program in on campus dorms. The community garden is home to two garden beds in which one bed is used for club members and the other serves as a gift garden to be donated by our community partner, Compassionate Saint Augustine, to local food waste combat organization, Epic Cure, to be distributed in local food pantries. When we are not gardening or recycling we meet up to learn about sustainability practices and various environmental topics!
The purpose of the Green Beans Environmental Club will be to not only educate students on environmental issues but also encourage establishing a more sustainable lifestyle on campus. We will organise events that give students the opportunity to be active participants on bettering the environment around them. The club will also serve as a means to aid in recycling efforts on campus.
