Visual Arts NYC Study Away
The Department of Visual Arts at Flagler College serves as the creative hub of campus, housed in the historic Molly Wiley Art Building. With programs in Art History, Fine Art, and Graphic Design, the department fosters a dynamic environment where students are encouraged to explore, create, and grow as artists and thinkers.
One of the most transformative experiences offered to students is the Study Away trip to New York City. This four-day immersive experience allows students to engage directly with the heart of the art and design world. From visiting world-renowned museums and galleries to experiencing contemporary art in person, students gain invaluable exposure that goes far beyond what can be learned in a classroom.
For many students, this trip represents the first opportunity to see major works of art outside of textbooks or screens. It deepens their understanding of their field, strengthens their creative perspective, and connects them to the broader artistic community.
Unfortunately, due to rising costs, the Spring 2026 trip had to be canceled for the first time in 15 years because too many students were unable to afford the experience. This highlighted a critical need to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent students from accessing this opportunity in the future.
Our Roar and Raise Goal
Our Roar and Raise goal is to raise $5,000 to support student travel costs and ensure the NYC Study Away trip can return in 2027.
